Education and Curriculum Information for Rainbow Dreams Academy a Las Vegas Charter School

Grades Served

Rainbow Dreams Academy serves students in grade K-4. Each subsequent year, one grade level will be added through grade through grade five. Full-day kindergarten is provided at no additional cost.

Curriculum

Rainbow Dreams Academy (RDA) is an elementary charter school that will use the Clark County School District K-5 Curriculum Essentials Framework as it guide for curriculum development. This will ensure the instructional program's alignment to Nevada Content Standards and enable all students to progress by grade level according to the Nevada academic expectancies. Students in grade K-4 will be served during the 2009-2010 school year and an additional grade will be added each year through grade five.

Instruction

Rainbow Dreams Academy will offer a culturally relevant curriculum and instructional program that will integrate English Language Arts, mathematics, science, social studies, reading, computer technology, movement, fine arts, Spanish with an infusion of African American history and multicultural education.

Assessment

Rainbow Dreams Academy understands the importance of academic standards, expectancies, and accountability. We will use data from standardized test scores and other required assessments to both measure and guide our instructional program as well as individualized student learning.

Enrollment

All students have an equal opportunity to attend the school on a first-come, first-served admissions process. As an "at-risk charter school , 51% of Rainbow Dreams Academy students must demonstrate one of the following "at-risk" factors as defined by Nevada law:

pupils who are members of economically disadvantaged families,

pupils who are limited English proficient,

pupils who are a risk of dropping out of high school, and

pupils who do not meet minimum standards of academic proficiency.

Rainbow Dreams Academy registration forms are accepted until the maximum capacity for each grade level has been reached. Registration forms received after that point will be placed on our waiting list.
